OWNperty didn't start as a business idea. It started as a frustration — the kind that comes from watching money leave your account and disappearing into silence.

Like many in the diaspora, I wanted to invest in Ghana. The logic was clear — strong growth, family roots, a genuine connection to the land. But when I tried to make it happen from abroad, I encountered the same wall that stops so many others.

You wire money. You wait. Updates are vague or delayed. The person you trusted turns out to be working in their own interest, not yours. You can't get on a plane every time something needs to be checked. And if something goes wrong, you're thousands of miles away with limited recourse.

I experienced versions of this personally. And when I looked around, I realised this wasn't just my problem — it was the defining obstacle for the entire diaspora community trying to invest in Ghana. Billions of pounds, dollars, and euros held back not by a lack of desire, but by a lack of a trustworthy structure.

The question we kept asking:

The most important decision we made when building this was around money. We had seen too many situations where a client paid upfront and was left exposed. So we built the platform around a simple principle: the professional only gets paid when the work is done and documented. Fees are held by the platform until your advisor confirms delivery.
